What we do
Recognizing the multiple and interconnected challenges that military members, veterans and their families experience, in 2021 United Way of Suwannee Valley began the implementation of MISSION UNITED, a coordinated network of supports and services that help stabilize veterans and connect them with the broader community. United Way of Suwannee Valley uses data from the calls received for assistance to connect veterans to available resources.
Through MISSION UNITED, United Way of Suwannee Valley and our partners advocate for veterans in the community to connect them to the resources they need to lead productive, fulfilling, healthy lives after completing their military service.
In alignment with the United Way Worldwide MISSION UNITED program, United Way of Suwannee Valley creates a coordinated care network that provides a straightforward entry point, a dedicated and well-equipped case manager and a team of service providers committed to meeting all of a veteran’s needs, ensuring that they receive the benefits for which they are eligible. In addition to providing an entry point and coordinated care with various community agencies, the United Way of Suwannee Valley MISSION UNITED program also utilizes funding in order to assist veterans in the community with their housing needs in the form of deposits, rent/mortgage, and utility payments. This is provided to those veterans who do not qualify for any other program in our community and is short term assistance due to the veteran experiencing an unforeseen financial crisis.
