Carson was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida and is a graduate of Louisiana State University’s School of Social Work. Previously, Carson has worked with the severe and persistently mentally ill. Her vast experience comes from working as a child protection therapist, associated with a dependency drug court program, in Colorado. She has also served as the Director of a Hospital Diversion Program at a local Community Behavioral Health agency and as an Opiate Crisis Clinician. Carson has extensive experience serving marginalized, vulnerable children, and adults.
Her clinical experience has brought her to the Department of Veteran Affairs, North Florida/South Georgia. She initially started working in the Homeless Program and now finds herself as a Community Engagement and Partnership Coordinator (CEPC) in the Suicide Prevention Program.
As a champion for our community, Carson is on several mental health and polysubstance related task forces. Carson is passionate about reducing systemic traumatization and eliminating stigma Veterans experience while seeking mental health and substance use treatment.
