Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

VITA Program

Get Free Tax Assistance Through the VITA Program!

United Way of Suwannee Valley is committed to helping individuals and families achieve financial stability, and one way we do that is through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA provides free, confidential, and IRS-certified tax preparation services for low-to-moderate-income households in Columbia, Hamilton, Suwannee, and Lafayette counties.

Why Use VITA?
For many households, a tax refund is the largest check they receive all year. The VITA program helps maximize refunds and ensures eligible filers claim valuable tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC), providing critical financial relief.

How It Works:

File for free with trained volunteers at your local UF IFAS Extension office
Two appointments required – First for intake, second for tax completion
Secure & confidential e-filing for faster refunds via direct deposit
✔ Available to qualifying low-to-moderate-income individuals and families
✔ Last day to take advantage of this service: April 15, 2025
